Words Are Straw in the Wind – Solo of Li Nu

On the 2oth of December, 2017 the solo exhibition of Li Nu Words Are Straw in the Wind has been inaugurated in the ex-stable in the East Zone of Song Art Museum, the Newly opened private art museum of Wang Zhongjun, co-founder of one of the largest Chinese entertainment companies, Huayi Brothers Media. Li Nu has transferred the this place to a wild artistic space: 22 partition wall of the ex-stable covered by gold foils, partly hidden sculptures, haystacks scattered everywhere, thousands of pigeons crowding in the exhibition hall, interweaving with the sound of the bell.
The Chinese title of the exhibition “甚嚣尘上” is cited from Zuo Zhuan, the ancient Chinese narrative history that is traditionally regarded as a commentary on the ancient Chinese chronicle Spring and Autumn Annals (Chunqiu 春秋), which expresses an arrogant attitude toward things o people whereas the English title is a proverb that refers to a minor event or action that predicts or foreshadows a future event.
” The language of art is differente from the oral o written words. It will be unnecessary writing if speaking works, it will be unnecessary performing if writing works and it will be useless to express oneself in an artistic way if performing works…… The art is absolutely luxury, only when you are able to understand it will you own it.” Said Li Nu.
